LETTER OF RESIGNATION
To all members of this institution
of education, Frankfurt American High School:
With deep regret
I write this letter of resignation to everyone, I love this school, and
am deeply attached to the people here. I feel my stay here has been the
most formative time of my life, and I have gained many important experiences
that have added to my outlook on this, the world we live in.
I am going to the
University of Maryland, in Munich, the second semester of this school year,
I therefore feel it is fair to my successor to resign now and not when
all the organizational objectives have been reached. I am putting myself
at the disposal of the Senior Class whenever they need me for a purpose
with which I can be of help.
A point I would like
to bring up at this opportunity, is the fact that although many people
give hell when they want something done, those are the ones who don't offer
any help, advice, suggestions or ideas. All of the aforementioned are things
with which the Senior Class Government is a tool for. We are just a tool.
In other words, nothing can be done unless there is a true effort on the
part of the average student. I have tried and succeeded to this point in
gaining interest in the cause everyone should be interested in.
I would like to compliment
and chastise, in that order, the Senior Class this year. I see a great
improvement in people's attitudes towards those things that are becoming
increasingly important to all of us. The Class of 78 is undoubtedly the
best that has been here in a long while because we are all
beautiful, good, healthy, and intelligent. And these are the true qualities
which will decide how the world tomorrow will be as compared to today.
You and I are tomorrow.
I find fault with
several things, though, that I feel should be mentioned. The most important
being that the people here are starting a trend that is beginning to dehumanize
the entire structure of the community and even society. Another disappointing
fact is that the academic part of school is constantly being forgotten
or overlooked. Our school is here for us, and you and I alike need this
school, since we must educate ourselves to compete in the "Great Rat Race"
of the world. Believe me, this is the most important thing in life today.
I would like to close
this letter with a heartfelt thank you to all the beautiful people around
me that have made my stay at FAHS an experience I shall surely never forget.
I wish to personally thank those teachers and administrators who helped
me when I needed help and those fellow students who morally (and sometimes
physically) helped me stand on my own two feet to see the world in its
right perspective.
May your god bless you.
I love the hell out of
everyone of you.
