The First Richmond Gathering
![]() One thing FAHSers definitely
love to do is have fun! Well, when Squeaky (alias Kim Jarvis-Mackey, 77) wandered into the
Friday Nite Chat a few weeks ago, and found out that Pixie (Lee Ann McPherson 75) and
Songbird (Linda Newbery 77) also lived in Virginia, they made plans to get together one
Saturday night in Richmond. A few phone calls and emails to other FAHSers in the area was
all it took, and the stage was set for a great time! |
![]() The early birds - Kim, Lisa Poovey Greene (80) and Jeff Greene,
Pixie, and Chris Law (79) - met for drinks at Sine's, an Irish pub in Shockoe Slip. They
then headed up the street to meet R. David Bradley (76) and Linda at Sam Miller's for
dinner. David, our host for dinner, had apparently warned the owners that Frankfurters can
get a little bit loud, so they gave us our own area up on the second floor. |
![]() Mike, our waiter, assured us that we really weren't too rowdy for
the other patrons, though personally I though surely we would scare them all away. The
food was fabulous, and Mike made sure we had everything we wanted and kept our glasses
full. We laughed and told stories for hours, about everything from tattoos to
'legs', pearls and a Daddy garden...it was wonderful - the time just flew by. |
![]() After dinner Pixie, Jeff and Lisa had to leave because of a snowstorm coming
in to the area that night. Kim, Chris, Linda and Dvid walked down to Medley's, a blues bar
in Shockoe Bottom and one of Kim's favorite hangouts, to listen to the band and dance the
night away. Kim and Chris were definitely the "live wires", making sure the
dance floor was never empty. When the band finished its last set we reluctantly parted
ways, already planning the NEXT Richmond Gathering! |
