The Semi-Official FAHS.ORG  F.A.Q.

Over the years, people have written us with questions about the web site, reunions, and ways they might go about finding old friends.   We've also received questions about where to sunbathe nude in Germany, how to find cute high school boys that want to be pen pals, and how to go about "applying" for admission to FAHS.   In an attempt to respond to our ever growing mail bag in an efficient manner, we've posted some of the answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions below.     Enjoy.

The Answers:

1.  How do I get my pictures and information posted on the web Site?

If you have pictures for the Yearbook, Family Page, or other areas of the web site, send them to Dennis.    Please consult the Picture Submission Tips page before sending.   Reunion information or announcements should be sent to Lisa Poovey Berwyn.  If you want to submit your name and contact information for others to find, go to the Super Leute Finder, and you can use the forms there to create an entry in the database.   Feel free to leave a note with your email address in the Guest book.   Other people will find you that way.

2.  Why don’t you have a 19XX Yearbook page?

We only create a yearbook page when we have something to post.   If there isn’t a yearbook page for your year, it’s because you haven’t sent us your picture yet.   We’ll make one when we have something to put there.

3.  I’m trying to find some old high school friends.   How do I do that?

Check out the Super Leute Finder database.   You might also want to leave a message in the Guestbook.   Somebody who knows the person you are looking for might see it.   Also, visit other F.A.H.S. web sites.   Many of them have directories and databases where your friends might have left their contact information.   Many of these sites are listed on our links page.

4.  Why does most of the stuff on this site pertain to people from the 70’s and 80’s?  How come you’re ignoring the other class years?

FAHS.org is an “all years” site.   That said, we only post what people send us.   Many of the people who formed the organization and volunteer on the web site are from the 70’s and 80’s so its only natural that content from those years is more readily available.   However, we are open to participation from all class years.  There are a number of other Frankfurt High School sites that emphasize other class years.    We have posted links to them on our links page.   Check it out.

5.  What is the relationship between fahs.org and Overseas Brats?

Overseas Brats is a big organization that holds events for alumni of all DOD schools.   We are focused solely on FAHS alumni.   Another difference is that we tend to be quite a bit more informal, irreverent, and off-center.  They have schedules.  We're just happy if everyone makes it home in the morning (or at least by lunch).  They wear nametags at their parties.   We wear tattoos.   As my friend David likes to say, "At Frankfurt parties you are expected to remember who you are, and in the event that you forget who you are, pray that you look good in cork."   But hey, there’s room in the world and on the Internet for both organizations and styles.  We wish OB the best, and will continue to post announcements for their events on our reunions page.

6.  What is Lake Hartwell, and why is the gathering always there?   Will it ever be out on the West Coast?

Lake Hartwell was the original site chosen a few years ago by a small group of Frankfurters for a casual get together with their friends and families.    Over the last few years, the event has grown significantly.  There are no plans to have the Hartwell gathering any place other than Lake Hartwell.   Over the years, we’ve gotten to know the local people who help us throw this big party.   We now have an “in” with the vacation home rental people, the boat rental company, the local grocers (who handle our “special order keg beer”), the neighbors, and even the local polizei.   It would be hard to build all those relationships at another location, and frankly, we just don’t want to.   But hey, people all over the country are organizing gatherings - some big, some small.   Hartwell is what it is because people got together and organized it.   We encourage people on the left coast to do the same thing.   And as long as you don’t plan it for the same week as Hartwell, I think you’ll see a few of us out there.   Click here for Hartwell 2003 news.

7.  What’s the difference between the Lake Hartwell gathering, and the reunion hosted by Overseas Brats?

As noted in the answer to a previous question, we don’t wear nametags.   We avoid hotels.  We tend to be a lot more relaxed and casual.  Oh, and we’re not in Kansas (not that there’s anything wrong with that…).

8.  Where can I get a copy of an old Frankfurt High Yearbook?

Unfortunately, we don’t have a clue.   Several people would love to get “copies” but we are not aware of anyone at this point who is willing to provide that service.   Any entrepreneurs out there?

9.  When is the next Lisa Areheart Home Coming Queen Tea Party?   Is it true they sit around and watch porno while drinking Jack Daniels?

We’ll let you know the minute we hear about the next one – and yes, its true.

10.  Do they really skinny dip at Lake Hartwell?   Is this something I should bring my spouse and children to?

First, let me say that spouses and children are very welcome at Hartwell.   It is, for the most part, a family affair.  Days are spent relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings, catching up with old school friends, making new friends, fishing, swimming, canoeing, listening to good music, and listening to bad music, so on and so forth.  It’s a big lake, and we rent vacation homes, so you can be with whomever you want for as much or as little as you want (as long as you pick good roommates).  However, as in real life, evening hours at the lake tend to be more adult oriented and the Kegger Party on Saturday night (after dinner) is definitely an "adults only" party. Childcare is an individual family responsibility.    With regard to the skinny-dipping, I’ve heard rumors about it, but have never been lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.   I guess it’s the kind of thing that if you look for something hard enough, you’ll find it.   Like I said, it’s a big lake.

11.  I’m an aspiring artist or a writer, and I’d like to submit my stuff to FAHS site.   How do I do that?

Post stories, poems and articles of literary wonder on the Guestbook's Free Speech section, click here. Email images to freespirit@fahs.org .

12.  Where can I get a copy of my official high school transcript?

Click here for more information on this one.

13.  I can’t figure out how to get into the Friday night chat?   Is there someone who can help me?

Check out the Friday Night Chat link on the main page.   There is information there about how to get into chat, and who can help you if you are having trouble.

14.  You know, there are a lot of things you guys could do to make this web site better.   You could add more pictures, you could stop throwing random links all over the main page, you could post my yearbook picture quicker, the formatting is horrible, and the navigation is a little rough.   Who’s in charge of this operation anyway?

Lenny’s in charge.   He says, “Blow me”.

15.  Anybody remember seeing the "Scorpions" at the AYA in Edwards housing,'74?

As a matter of fact we do.   They rocked.   Thanks for reminding us.

16.  I know how to do web stuff.   I know how to use front page, I have a scanner, and I have training in graphic design.   Oh, and I have a lot of extra time on my hands.   Can I help?

In that case, you want to contact Lenny’s assistant, Dennis Berwyn.    We could always use a little help with this beast.

17.  What’s with the Human Click thing?

Human Click is a customer service feature we’ve been enjoying for the last few months.   If you get to the site, and you have a question, it allows you to immediately contact a fahs.org representative for assistance.   Rumor has it that they are going to start charging big bucks for their software starting in 2001, so we’re not sure how long its going to be around.   Try it out.   Its cool.

18.  What’s the Frankfurt Marketplace?   Who’s making money on this thing?

If you just want to support the web site, you can check here for information about making a small donation.

19.  Who is Miguel de ARESPACOCHAGA and why does he visit fahs.org?

Frankly we have no idea, but according to Miguel the first known Arespacochaga fought in the Roncesvalle´s Battle against the French over 500 years ago.   There’s something to be said for that.   Miguel, come to Hartwell, and we’ll celebrate your ancestors with a Stroh toast.

20.  Is it true that a real live wizard comes to Hartwell?

Yes it is true.   We have also had a witch (but she’s a good one), the occasional harlot, a minister, a professor, a prosecutor, a police officer and a dominatrix.   But in most cases they are on vacation and there is nothing to worry about <grin>.   For those who are so inclined, there are many churches in the vicinity that welcome visitors on Sunday.

21.  I run my own business.   Can I promote it on your website?

If you are an alum of FAHS, you can post your business on our web site.   Check out Business Connections for instructions.

22.  I’d like my son or daughter to attend FAHS – where can I get an application?

We don’t have any applications left, but you can send us the tuition check <grin>

Seriously, we get inquires all the time from people who want to send their kids to Frankfurt High.   Frankly, we’re both honored and at the same time a little concerned about that.   Especially considering some of the stories people have posted on the site.   However, the school no longer exists as an American high school and they are not accepting any new students.   It was a blast while it lasted though.

23.  What the hell is that eye ball thing that keeps moving around the site?

That's Lenny, the webmaster.   He's just keeping an eye on things.
