Frankfurt a/Main - April 1, 2006 (FAHSPA
News Service) ~ US Army Forces Europe made a major
announcement today. The Frankfurt American High School that was closed in
1995 due to reductions in troop levels will be reopened in time for the
Fall Semester of the 2006-2007 school year. Amazingly the school will be
reopened in the same building as the one built after World War II. A
German Vocational School has been operating and upgrading the facilities
for the last 8 years. Army spokesperson Maj. S.H. Itpark was quoted as
saying, " We will be contacting former students and teachers from all
years to find out if there is interest in anyone returning to Frankfurt to
staff, administer, and teach at the school." He continued, adding, " This
school's reputation as a world class High School has never diminished and
its high time we brought back these alumni's to show kids nowadays what
the High school experience should be all about." Former instructor H.
Ashpipe and his wife K.Altesbier both were overjoyed to hear this
announcement. This reporter found them frolicking in Grueneburg Park when
the news had been spread around the facility. Both were quoted as saying,
"Hooray, the kids are coming back." Details of this announcement and more
