Being Thankful Calls for Deep Reflection
November marks the beginning of the Winter Holiday Season and in my
household it is always time for reflection on the Spring and Summer passed.
I am always thankful for the health of my children and family. I am very
blessed to have some of the best friends anyone can have. I have a dear
friend who recently overcame incredible odds and obstacles to make his heart
whole again. I won't go into detail to give his new family some privacy. But
please stop and consider, and reflect for a moment all the blessings you
have in your life. Consider yourself fortunate to be alive, and to have the
strength to go on and face the next day with all its trials and
tribulations. Reflect deeply on the bounty of Nature and the Providence of
our Maker. I ask this in abject humility and with a hopeful heart that you
will find the strength to perhaps forgive someone for something that you
thought you would never be able to do, or to take on a new challenge, or to
find a place to volunteer and give the most precious commodity of all; your
time. Give of yourself to a cause that you care about. Find a local branch
of some volunteer organization and go there; give freely of that which you
have. And most of all, reflect on the blessings of this rich life on this
beautiful planet.
I know I am thankful to know so many folks who attended Frankfurt American
High School, and what a great community it was, and now still is, or is
again.
