Lee Ann (pix) McPherson '75 in St Thomas U.S.V.I.

St Thomas is an amazing place. The color of the Caribbean sea,
the beautiful sky, the tropical flowers, birds and butterflies are a delight to the eye.
As the amazing journey of my life continues,  I hope to see more places like St Thomas.
I could spend a couple of months here happily.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas USVI at sunrise.

Loved the clouds!

A bit more sunshine on the gently sloping hills of St. Thomas

This ship just seemed to glow with the sunlight

Overlooking the bay at Charlotte Amalie from Paradise Point, where the water is in this picture is the crater of the extinct volcanoe that created this section of the island.

Panoramic view of the harbor

The mountains way off in the distant horizon are on the island of Puerto Rico.

Pixie at Pardise Point, St Thomas, USVI

In this photo you can make out the old fort that protected the harbor. Years ago they strung wire from the fort the the rocks in the lower left corner of the image to stop ships from sailing in, possibly pirate ships.

After exploring some of Charlotte Amalie I went to the other side of the island and saw Magens Bay, this image was taken facing southeast and I was amazed by all the smaller islands.

This is a panoramic view of Magens Bay, the color of the water was spectacular.

The islands are volcanic in nature

Look at the Iguana I found!

Is that a pirate flag??

One of the most notorious pirates was Blackbeard, depicted here as a statue in front of Blackbeard's castle.

The world's largest collection of Pirate Statues surround Blackbeard's Tower, the detail in his statue was great!

I loved the golden color of these coconuts

And the bright blue sky against the fern palm leaves

This statue of a female pirate has a story behind it. The pirate used to flash her breasts to distract her opponent just before she moved in to attack. She sounds like a Frankfurt chick.. I think she was called Anne Bonny.

This statue looks very much like Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean

On Guard!

Looking at the statues I can only imagine what it must have been like to live in a time where pirates ruled the seas.

"Three Queens of St. Croix," a sculpture commissioned by the St. Thomas Historical Trust in partnership with Circa 1675 and Virgin Islands Inns, captures Queen Mary, Queen Agnes and Queen Josiah - who on Oct. 1, 1878, led laborers in setting fire to half of Frederiksted on St. Croix in a successful demand for better wages and working conditions

Christmas Palm, named because the nuts are green as they grow and turn red as they ripen. They look very festive.

The 99 steps (actually there are 103) used to travel up and down the hills of St Thomas.

Old fashioned water heater, and to think I complain about not having enough hot water!

As the sun was setting I saw this pair of paragliders..

What an incredible sky!
